Veteran’s invitation to attend national protest rally Nov. 6

Invitation from Cpl. Kenneth H. Young CD (ret.)

It is not often, and in fact it has never happened in the past that Canadian veterans have felt it necessary to stand up and be heard by Ottawa.

It is somewhat sad that the reason for this nationwide rally is that veterans’ support has been on the chopping block for hidden cuts within the New Veterans Charter at the same time as Ottawa increases tax cuts to many of our most profitable Canadian corporations.

The NVC coupled with restraints and restrictions placed on VAC frontline workers has lowered the actual number of accepted pension requests  as well as the amount of Canadian taxpayers’ contribution to Canadian veterans’ pensions. In effect, these changes have lowered Ottawa’s after-war costs and dumped them squarely on the backs of our wounded and disabled veterans.

I would like to invite Canadians across this land to stand up for veterans and veterans’ issues, regardless of whether you agree with the policies and orders Ottawa has placed on our military . . . in the past, today or in the future. These brave men and women stand up for you and will continue to do so.

On November 6, they need our help. If not us, then who?

One Response to Veteran’s invitation to attend national protest rally Nov. 6

  1. Greetings,

I am a blog master on the NORVAL MORRISSEAU BLOG…

… I have just wanted to send you the link sadly showing an example where defamation of a Canadian WWII Veteran is taking place:

It is very sad that this is happening in a month when we celebrate the contribution of generations of Canadian Veterans, who through their courage, determination and sacrifice have helped to ensure that we live in a free and peaceful country.

    Thank you.
